– Back in the United States?

– Prepared a plan for American Adventure # 3?

– Did Scotty have a good night sleep at its cozy storage unit?

– Is Scotty and its companion ready for action?

YES!

Yes! The waiting is over and we have begun our adventure number 3 which will take us this time through the western corridor of the country; it is where Scotty will embrace the Pacific Ocean In California, Oregon and Washington states, the spectacular hills and forest of Canada, the lakes and still in place snow on the hill tops in Alaska, the well known beauty of the geography of Montana, and if time allows us, admire the beauty that North Dakota and Minnesota have to offer.

But, before getting into how the adventure in Nevada is, let’s see a few pics of our time in Spain!

It was time spent with family and friends in Spain and France, play some golf, cook some good food, fly my model airplanes and visit two of the well known Balearic Islands ( Ibiza and Formentera) in the Med….. fabulous!!

So, back in Spain at around February, right in the middle of winter, something wouldn’t let me sleep well….. the cold snap that hit Kansas with temperatures as low as -16 F ( or -27 deg C)…. I’d just think of how Scotty and the Ford Escape would handle such low temperatures!!. To the best of my knowledge, I followed ( or that is what I thought LOL) the winterization procedure of the hydraulic systems of the RV. So, at our arrival it was just the expectations of how things were inside the enclosed storage unit once we’d open the door; remember… it was a period of 9 months in complete darkness for both vehicles. The only living machine was the inverter / charger that stayed connected to a wall socket.

First off, once again the CAT-9 engine shows how good of an engine is!! As the previous time back in Houston, it took only a couple of seconds to fire up.

Scotty is truly an excellent RV… all was found in great shape…… well, almost…

We then went to pick up the Ford, and again, it took just two secongs to fire up… just a bit of dust on top of it, that was it.

So, this is the moment of our arrival at the campground

Once you drive into the assigned site, the next thing to do is preparing all systems ( jacks down, slides out, power connection and hydraulic hoses). And it is precisely at this moment when we noticed that there was a water leakage under the water heater tank…. yes, Mister Jaime failed to follow the correct winterization procedure and didn’t know that a plug had to be unscrewed in order the empty all possible water inside the tank. He left the drainage valve open, yes, but he didn’t finish the complete task…. aaaaggghhhhh

That means that we had to go back to Wichita and have it repaired or replace ( it was replaced in the end)

Behind that latch a new water heater was installed.

And!!! Welcome to the United States ever changing weather !! We were having dinner with our good friends Neil and Judy when emergency alarms went off on the mobile phones of everyone: a massive 90 MPH storm was approaching the area!! and we had just a window of 45 minutes to get to the campground and put the slides in…..

We drove off in our Ford and winds changed direction and headed earlier towards our position and we were caught right in the middle of it!! This was a terrifying experience as we have never felt before.

At out arrival, we found fallen trees and destruction all over. Happily, Scotty was just fine, not a single drop of rain inside.

Also, happy to report that the tree that we planted last year, had survived!!

It sounds crazy, but for us to get to the new state this time, we have to leave from Kansas, cross Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah…. miles and miles of driving! But this gave us the chance to cross some high altitude mountains in Colorado, visit the Four Cornes Monument in which four different states meet together, and visit a site that we missed last year: Page and the world famous Antelope Canyon in Arizona.

How about this picturesque Rest Area in Colorado? Gosh… how much I love Rest Areas!!

And the road from Walsenburg to Pagosa Springs also in Colorado, one of the best drives I’ve ever done!!

Time to visit the Four Corners Monument, a spot where Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico meet together.

Setting foot in 4 different states in less than 15 seconds LOL

Okay, time to pay a visit to Antelope and the world famous Upper and Lower canyons. We had to miss the Lower Canyon due to the high cost of the tickets!! $100 per head for 1 1/2 hr visit is a bit too high.

Once again, water currents, wind and sandstone and many millions of years were needed to create such wonder!!

Quite a site!!! Beautiful visit.

And this is the view of the campground in Page, Arizona and a sunset from the same.

It was time to head to the city that never sleeps… Las Vegas!! We stayed there a couple of days, first day was maintenance on Scotty and the second day was devoted to entertainment!!

A good wash for Scotty

We headed to town and the idea was to visit a casino, a walk in downtown and we were told we shouldn’t miss a very famous street… Fremont Street!! This was awesome!!

And here’s a Cybertruck from Tesla…. its size and huge tyres impress!!!

And this was Fremont Street…. crazy

Tree number 18th

The following tree is a nice palm tree that was planted at the Charlie’s RV park in Las Vegas…. this RV park has won the price for the best RV park in the area for several years!!

We say bye bye to Nevada and head towards California!!. We will visit San Diego, Yosemite Park, San Francisco and the northern part nearing Oregon.
