It looks like Iowa is giving us the slow pace for a transition between the many many miles driven on previous states and the beginning of preparations for the end of this American Expedition #3 and subsequent hibernation!!. Not much happened in this small state; we decided to make only one stop at the state capital ( Des Moines) and spend a few days just winding down.
Weather has been incredibly dry in general!! At times you wish you were passing through heavy rain while driving as the spray on the road helps to clean the underbelly of the RV but no!! nothing for days and days… until we notice that dark clouds are developing in the area of Des Moines

The dark area is not a mountain!! These are dark clouds and a potential storm in the making

And here we are again right in the middle of a storm …. but this time we just waited for it to pass and yes, the RV looked a bit cleaner after the heavy rain

I actually had some maintenance to do and there was this water leaking at the wet bay that was bugging me for quite some time so I decided that it was time to pass through the pain of disassembling the panel of valves and commands and make it work

And I did it!! A valve had split open again as a result of some water left before the winter and subsequent cold snap in Kansas but a new valve has been installed and problem solved!!
We stayed at a great campground, KOA Holiday Des Moines and of course it would be the ideal location to plant the tree for Iowa!. Speaking to Teresa ( supervisor) she was kind enough not only to let us plant a nice Blue Spruce at a great location right in front of a lake and the Dog Area but also she asked the Social Media rep (Nikki) to make a video of us while we were planting the tree!! We are famous now 😂

One more state on the map and it looks like half the country has been done already!
Next time we will explore the city that showcase a very famous landmark…. an Arch!!
