After leaving South Carolina, we made it to Georgia, the last state before our final destination, Florida.

There are so many great places to visit, but we limited our adventure to a city beloved by many… Savannah! And in Savannah we were told to see iconic places like the old town, the cemetery, a famous park and the riverside.

But first, a couple of videos from the campground we stayed at, a venue that not only offers sites for motorhomes, but also it is a place where many weddings and other large celebrations take place, the Red Gate Farms

Notice the hanging moss on the trees; you see it all over the city, parks, forest, etc.

Then our first visit was to the very famous Forsyth Park in town

Savannah is famous for its stunning 18th century architecture, moss draped oak trees, and adorned with 22 historic squares!! As “America’s First Planned City” and one of the nation’s most haunted, it draws visitors for its rich history, ghost tours, and open-container ordinance that lets you walk the streets with a cocktail. Well, we missed that part though.

As we walked, we heard some music tones very familiar to us… bagpipes!

Then we headed to the Bonaventure Cemetery.

Bonaventure Cemetery is famous for its haunting southern gothic beauty, featuring Spanish moss-draped live oaks and elaborate Victorian funerary art. Its global prominence skyrocketed after it served as the setting for the best-selling book and film “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”.

Another proof that “money talks” in cemeteries as well….

The “Waving Girl” of Savannah is Florence Martus(1863 – 1943), who lived on Elba Island and greeted every ship entering and leaving the Port of Savannah. For 44 years (1887 to 1931), she waved a handkerchief by day and a lantern by night, earning worldwide fame among sailors.

The next day a good 2 mile walk in the park is never too bad!!

Tree for Georgia: You won’t believe it but can you imagine that we couldn’t plant a tree in the state of Georgia? We bough it and were ready to do it, but burocracy from the campground management wouldn’t let us accomplish what we’ve done in 47 states and another country ( Canada in this case) before.

Oh well…. it looks like this man will have to plant two trees in Florida under 100 deg F on a sunny day!!

For now Scotty and its little brother Ford deserves a good wash just to make a ” clean entrance ” into our very last state… FLORIDA!!

This is crazy really…. one more state and we’d finish our American Adventure!!! I’m getting nostalgic now……
